Casey ARC to Reopen on July 7

June 18, 2021

After a 15-month closure due to COVID-19 lockdowns and re-roofing work, Casey ARC is ready to open its doors to the public on Wednesday, 7 July. A huge amount of work has been undertaken during this period and the Centre has undergone some significant changes and it’s looking fantastic.

“We are very excited to have an opening date and to now be in a position to share that date with everyone,” Rob Daley, Centre Manager for Casey ARC, said. “The extended COVID lockdown had a significant impact on us, as it did to all businesses in the Casey area and beyond. The City of Casey identified this closure as an opportunity to bring forward important Centre maintenance and instead of having to close the facility in the future to conduct these works decided to utilise this time to take action.” The roof at the Centre has been replaced as have the solar panels, which are now eight times more efficient. Additionally, a glass wall has been erected between the foyer area and the pools, which will enable the Centre to include 24/7 gym access for members as well as making the reception and café area a more temperate and comfortable environment for visitors.

“This has been a huge undertaking for the City of Casey,” Angie Peresso, Manager Active Communities at the City of Casey, said. “Casey ARC turns 20 years old this year and has been a community hub for local residents for a long time and we want to ensure it remains that way for the next 20 years. It is truly a place everyone in the community can be proud of.”

The 24/7 gym will ensure the community can have access at all hours to allow more time to get active. Once 24/7 is open at Casey ARC, it will mean that Health and Wellness members will be able to access three ONE Casey 24/7 facilities within the City of Casey. The others being Casey RACE and Endeavour Hills Leisure Centre.

Additionally, swimming lessons at Casey ARC, which catered for over 2,500 students prior to the closure are due to restart on Monday, 12 July. Those who previously held swimming lesson memberships at the Centre will be given the opportunity to re-join within the next week before it is opened up to the public beyond that.

The Café, Child Care and Group Fitness classes will all be available when the Centre reopens on 7 July.

“We can’t wait to see everyone back at Casey ARC,” said Rob. “It is a fantastic recreational centre with something for everyone. Our staff are excited to get back to work and giving our visitors a truly memorable experience.”
